FAQ
Pricing & Booking
How much do tattoos cost?
The cost of tattoos depends on each artist’s hourly rate. Our senior artists, Lara and Laurna, with 10+ years of experience, charge $150 an hour while our junior artists, Greg and Sierra, with 2+ years of experience, charge $125 an hour, and our last junior artist, Zoe, with 1 year of experience, is $100 an hour.
We recommend talking with your artist to get a quote of how much a piece would cost because everyone’s skill, speed, and styles are different.

You can contact our artists individually through their social media, work phone, email, or through our website. Ask for your artist’s availability for your tattoo and decide on a date and time together.
Do you accept walk-ins or appointments only?
Most days we do accept walk-ins if an artist is available. We recommend checking our studio’s social media and website to view walk-in availability.

Each artist will have their own policies however all deposits are nonrefundable.
Design & Artist Selection
How do I choose the right tattoo artist?
We recommend taking the time to view all of our artists’ work to see which artist best aligns with your vision for your tattoo.
Can I bring my own design or request a custom tattoo?
You can do either!
What styles of tattoos do you offer?
We offer all styles, though some of our artists are more comfortable with some tattoo styles than others. We recommend asking your artist if they are comfortable or experienced in the style that you are interested in.
Will I see my design before the appointment, and can I request changes?
This will vary by artist, most will not be comfortable showing you the final design until you are face to face. If your artist is comfortable sharing sketches and ideas with you before your appointment you are ENCOURAGED to make requests and changes if you feel the need. Your tattoo will be on your skin for the rest of your life, we want you to be happy with your art.
Process & Expectations
Does getting a tattoo hurt?
Yes. Pain levels vary from placement to placement and everyone’s pain tolerance is different.
How long does a tattoo take to complete?
This depends on the size and complexity of your tattoo. You should ask your artist for an estimate of time.
How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Have a good night’s rest, drink plenty of water, and eat a meal beforehand.
If using numbing cream, rub the cream into the skin and leave a thick layer of cream on top of the skin, wrapping the covered area with saran wrap for an hour before your tattoo.
What should I bring (or avoid) before getting tattooed?
Bring your ID, water, snacks, method of payment, comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting stained with ink or blood, and a clean, calm, well rested you! Some people like to bring a friend or partner for support which is fine by us. Avoid drinking, the tattoo area getting sunburned or injured (scraped or bruised), having excessive caffeine, and not getting enough rest before your tattoo.
Aftercare & Healing
How do I take care of my tattoo after getting it?
Each artist recommends something different but most follow the instructions in our aftercare page.
How long does it take for a tattoo to heal?
Tattoos take around 6 weeks to completely heal.
View our aftercare page for more in-depth info.
What activities should I avoid after getting a tattoo (showering, swimming, working out, sun exposure)?
Avoid submerging your tattoo in water(taking a bath, hot tub, swimming) for 6 weeks until your tattoo is fully healed. You should also avoid working out for about a week after getting your tattoo, unless your tattoo is around a high-movement area such as a joint where you should avoid working out for around 2 weeks to avoid over-stretching/over-using the skin.
View our aftercare page for more in-depth info.
Can tattoos get infected and how do I spot issues?
Tattoos are open wounds that can get infected if not properly taken care of. If you notice any persistent inflammation in or around the tattoo, persistent pain, thick yellow or green pus, or foul odors, you should seek medical attention. If you are unsure of infection, contact your artist and they can help direct you on how you should proceed.

Safety & Policies
Is tattooing safe, and what hygiene practices do you follow?
Yes, tattooing is safe when done in an up-to-date, licensed business. In Virginia, we are licensed under DPOR (Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation) and follow the laws and regulations they set. For hygiene, every artist in our studio uses single-use needle cartridges that are put into a sharps container after use. Once these sharps containers are full, they are closed and a service collects them and disposes of them. Anything that is not thrown away after a client’s appointment is cleaned thoroughly with Madacide, which is a hospital-grade EPA registered disinfectant.
How old do you have to be to get a tattoo (and do you tattoo minors)?
In the state of Virginia, we tattoo 16+ with guardian permission and 18+ without. If you are the guardian of a minor looking to get a tattoo, please bring your ID, your child’s ID, and a birth certificate to complete the consent form for their appointment.
